KCP has a team of Software/Hardware consultants.

These people are trained by IBM, Compaq, Toshiba, Cisco, Novell, Microsoft and other manufacturers in the range of products that KCP support.
These systems engineers are ultimately responsible for the support of the larger or more complex systems
KCP's support staff are a professional team, trained and committed to providing the highest levels of service and support to our customers.

Cabling

KCP provide a complete consultancy, design and installation service for the total network solution. This means that your cabling infrastructure is designed, installed and tested as an integral part of the system requirement.

Working with our cabling contractor AT&G we take full system responsibility from analysis, design, installation, commissioning support and maintenance for the total network solution.

All of our cabling installations are tested with state of the art cable testing equipment and a report can be produced to certify the installation.

We not only have experience in Ethernet and Token ring we can also provide connectivity in other cabling media such as fibre optic.

Network security

It is essential that network security is established to prevent corruption of network data. Unless end users are locked out of critical parts of a networked system a company is open to deliberate or accidental corruption of both programs and data.

Although network security is commonly associated with preventing unauthorised users from accessing company data, there are a number of other security issues that must be taken into consideration:

The aspect of Physical security is often overlooked in a PC environment. Key hardware such as servers and gateways should be isolated from the general workplace to prevent malicious or accidental access by unauthorised personnel.

Data corruption or accidental erasure can be greatly reduced by the correct implementation of network operating system's level of security this allows data access whilst at the same time protecting the data from accidental change.

Computer virus can readily spread in a network environment KCP can advise on ways to minimise this type of risk

Internet connectivity means that it is now possible for external intruders and hackers to force their way into your network either corrupting your data or stealing it. Again KCP can advise on the use of the appropriate firewall technology to protect your corporate network from uninvited visitor via your internet connection.

Data Backups

A key element in any day-to-day management of PC's or a network must be a backup routine. Unfortunately there are no hard and fast rules regarding the type and frequency of backups. These procedures can only be put into place following the examination of each company's specific requirement..

Equally important to the successful running of a backup system is an associated recovery plan that can be implemented in the event of data loss or corruption. Only having both backup and recovery plans in place will the staff have full confidence in their systems.

Data Migration

Desktop and server migration is a complex issue and one that is facing many corperate users either today or in the near future. In addition many organisations have reached a point where they must choose between Novell Netware and Microsoft Windows as their strategic platforms. In both cases significant change is involved and the impact on the day-to-day running of the business must be minimised.

KCP's engineers are skilled in all aspects of data migration from single Desktop PC to entire networks.
